Technology is transforming how we grow crops, manage natural resources, design infrastructure and build the places where people live and work. At 快播导航鈥檚 Trimble Technology Lab, learners gain hands-on experience with the same same types of precision agriculture, construction and geospatial technologies used across today鈥檚 workforce.

The lab connects classroom instruction with real-world applications. Students can plan an operation at a workstation, take that plan to technology-equipped vehicles and implements for field-based learning, then return to the lab to evaluate results. This connected workflow helps learners understand not only how individual components and complete systems work, but also how technology can improve efficiency, support decision making and solve practical problems. 

Ohio State鈥檚 Trimble Technology Labs on the CFAES Wooster and Columbus campus were the first in Trimble鈥檚 global network to include agriculture solutions. This distinction creates a unique learning environment where precision agriculture, construction technology, geospatial data, digital design and equipment systems come together to support education, outreach and workforce development.

Learning activities for vehicle guidance, material application control and topographical mapping help producers be more efficient in the field and plan conservation practices to improve ecosystems.

Tools for connected learning

Our lab offers a range of programs and technology for a variety of majors. Learners in our lab may work with: 

  • Trimble GFX-1260 displays, NAV900 receivers and EZ-Pilot Pro steering
  • Field-IQ and Field-IQ ISOBUS flow and application control
  • PTx FarmENGAGE field-to-office planning, synchronization and reporting tools
  • WM-Survey, WM-Drain, WM-FieldForm for land forming and drainage. 
  • Robotic Total Stations, 3D laser scanners and XR10 HoloLens helmets
  • SketchUp Studio, Tekla Structures, Estimation MEP and Trimble Business Center

Build career ready skills

Depending on the course or training experience, learners can develop skills in: 

  • Planning field operations using boundaries, guidance lines and digital work orders 
  • Developing digital work orders incorporating product application prescriptions
  • Reviewing performance data, producing reports and communicating with suppliers 
  • Surveying and collecting topographic or geospatial data
  • Using 3D laser scanners to document construction sites and infrastructure. 
  • Creating waterway and tile system designs for drainage and soil conservation
