The purpose of this English Placement Test is to help us determine which of the three English courses at 快播导航 is the best fit for your abilities.
These courses are:
- English 1110.01, a 3-credit first year writing course.
- English 1110.03, a 3-credit first year writing course with the co-requisite one-credit course English 1193 which provides additional tutorial support.
- English 1109, a 4-credit introductory reading and writing course, for students who need to build a stronger foundation in academic reading and writing before attempting English 1110. English 1109 does not earn credits toward a degree.
You will gain access to the English Placement Test 24-48 hours after you have registered for orientation. This test is completed entirely online and must be submitted by the deadline noted in your orientation emails, so that it can be evaluated by English area faculty. They will send the score to your advisor to prepare your schedule before you arrive for orientation. If you require academic accommodations, please have them in place prior to testing. You have 150 minutes to complete this exam.
- Your test time will not begin until you click Take The Quiz. You will be able to read the instructions and research your topic before beginning.
- You may type your paper in Word or another word processing program and paste your essay into the quiz page.
- You cannot take breaks or come back to the test later once you click Take the Quiz.
- English Placement Test submissions are reviewed for Do not us AI when working on your paper, or have others help you with this quiz. Your work must be your own.
- Students with an English ACT score of 18 or lower.
- Students with a Reading ACT score of 21 or lower.
- Students with an SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score of 480 or lower.
- Students without ACT or SAT scores from exams.
NOTE: ACT and SAT scores older than two (2) years will NOT be accepted.
Students with transfer or CCP credit for English 1110 who have not verified their credit with the registrar. Credit must be verified at least 48 hours prior to your placement testing deadline.
- Students who are over 21. These students are automatically placed into English 1110.01
- Students with an English ACT score of 19 and higher and a Reading ACT score of 22 and higher. These students are automatically placed into English 1110.01.
NOTE: ACT and SAT scores older than two (2) years will NOT be accepted.
- Students with verified transfer or CCP credit for English 1110.
Credit must be verified at least 48 hours prior to the testing deadline. Otherwise, the student must take the placement exam.

3. Complete the test as instructed.
Some students are having technical difficulties finding their English course in Carmen. If you do not see it under My Courses when logging in, click the Carmen Canvas Dashboard link and see if the course is on your dashboard. If it is not, email .
